From the board of Alexander Simonis, the designer behind the very successful Voyage series of catamarans, the Maxim cats were certainly built for strength and elements like skegs make them easy to beach. The 2005 version is wider than previous models and has higher headroom – over 6’ throughout. She is a very comfortable fast catamaran and is easily sailed single handed as all lines come back to the cockpit. The cockpit is especially roomy, with 3 large lockers, over 4’ deep, as well as a separate sealed gas locker venting overboard inside one of the cockpit lockers. There is also a wide underfloor locker for additional stowage / liferaft storage. With the unique dinghy storage on blocks, with centre lifting, once launched you have a full width walking transom from which to dive or Barbeque.
SAILING HISTORY I purchased the vessel in 2012 from Voyage Yacht Charters in the BVI. She had been sailed on her own bottom from Durban, South Africa and was in the charter fleet for 5 years. I have sailed her from Eastern Caribbean to ABC Islands, back to Dominican Republic, to Grenada, up to Antigua, back to Grenada then to ABC Islands and on to Colombia, Panama and, had her professionally delivered to Guatemala. As I work in Africa the vessel has been hauled out for at least 5 of these years, the longest for 19 months. She was hauled out in Guatemala for 10 months and I then did a major refit, before sailing to Belize, back to Guatemala, and then last year to Roatan. She was hauled out in May 2023 whilst I was away working and relaunched in May 2024.
ACCOMMODATION As an owner's version the entire port hull is dedicated to the owners and a large head leading into an actual engine room. Moving forward, there are wardrobes before entering the generous owner's cabin which also has plenty of locker space. Under the queen-sized berth is the watermaker. The starboard hull has one queen and one double berth and a bathroom amidships. The aft double sleeps fore and aft, with large engine hatch underneath. The queen forward sleeps athwartships. The bridge deck saloon is a neat design, tight wrap around galley and aft facing nav desk, complete with a hydraulic drop-down table and fitted cushions, so you have an additional double berth. There are two forward V berths, under which are the stainless water tanks. These are being used as storage of spares, spinnaker, boat covers and table cushions.
