Kaia is a highly sought-after handbuilt 1999 Leopard 38 owner's version. A proven bluewater cruiser, Kaia is currently cruising French Polynesia en route to Australia via Tonga and Fiji. We purchased Kaia in Grenada and have since sailed her north to the British Virgin Islands, and west through the Caribbean Sea to Panama (1,200nm), before transiting the Panama Canal. Most recently, Kaia took us 4,000nm across the Pacific Ocean to the Marquesas Islands — a passage we completed in just 27 days, keeping pace with, or outpacing, significantly larger and newer catamarans in the same fleet. When we were looking for a catamaran for our year-long sabbatical, we wanted a boat that was ready to sail. It took us 9 months to find one that ticked all of our boxes, and which genuinely lived up to the listing description. Kaia is a solid, structurally sound vessel that has been exceptionally well maintained, and continually improved. Following extensive upgrades in 2024 and 2025 by the previous owners who sailed her from North Carolina to Grenada, we made further improvements through 2026 in preparation for the Pacific. Unlike many boats left on moorings or on the hard in hot and humid climates while waiting to be sold, Kaia is currently being lived on and under way, keeping her dry, fresh, and free of mould or mildew. Kaia comes fully equipped with everything you could want or need for live-aboard cruising. You really could step on board and set sail right away!
